Stardew Valley has just received a brand new free mod that adds a few sci-fi elements to the game.

You may not think that Stardew Valley needs any sci-fi content when it really leans more on magic realism and light fantasy.

That’s where modders come in, completely transforming the vibe into something a little more futuristic and space-themed.

MagicianFlea’s new mod, titled “Ad Astra - Per Stardew”, adds a variety of new content to Stardew Valley with a sci-fi flavour.

The title of the mod refers to the Latin phrase “ad astra per aspera”, meaning “to the stars through hardships”. Though I guess in this case it would mean “to the stars through Stardew”.

Ad Astra Per Stardew Adds A Bit Of Sci-Fi Flavour To Stardew Valley

“Deep in the mountains of Stardew Valley is a long forgotten secret, waiting to be unearthed. Perhaps it is a step toward distant lands, far out among the stars. Or perhaps it is a box of demons, best left unopened. Do you make the leap to find out?” reads the description of the mod.

Ad Astra - Per Stardew adds five new crops to the game, along with a new sapling, two new animals (and their related products), as well as two new sci-fi themed locations.

There’s also a new character, Juno, who is described as a “linguist” that you’ll meet during this new adventure, and MagicianFlea has stated their intentions to make Juno romanceable in a future update.

While the content added with the mod is fairly light at the moment, MagicianFlea has stated that there’ll be more coming in future updates.

This includes new animals, crops, recipes, two new NPCs, a new dungeon and greenhouse, as well as three new weapons, a tool, and seven new fish. You can look out for that as well as more updates on the mod page.

If you want to download the Ad Astra - Per Aspera mod for Stardew Valley now, you can do so by grabbing it from Nexus Mods.
