We’re finally getting an explanation of what happened in between the events of Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi and Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, starring Kylo Ren as he hunts down the survivors of Order 66.
The new comic series is titled Star Wars: Legacy of Vader, which, as author Charles Soule explains, is set as close as possible to the conclusion of Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi.
"[Kylo Ren] is Supreme Lord Leader of the First Order, so it's set right after Episode 8,” Soule told Star Wars Explained in a new interview.

“It literally picks up like five seconds after Episode 8 ends."
So why exactly is Kylo Ren trying to hunt down Jedi survivors, so long after the events of Order 66? Well, by the sounds of things, it’s all Luke Skywalker’s fault.
"He's trying to figure out who he's going to be going forward and so he looks back to his grandfather's legacy…” Soule continued.
“There's a point where Kylo decides he needs to face a Jedi, after what happened with Luke, and so he goes on the search for any possible Order 66 survivors. It's a plot point I think is really rich to explore, this far after Order 66."

The new series is set to kick off next month, with the first issue dropping on February 5.
Soule did tease that Kylo will be successful in hunting down a Jedi or two, although he remained tight-lipped about who exactly he may run into.
If he’s truly trying to follow in Darth Vader’s footsteps, maybe he should be hunting down some younglings. Alternatively, how old would Cal Kestis be around this time? Maybe 60/70?
I reckon Cal would probably demolish Kylo Ren though. Hardly seems like a fair fight to me.
