Star Wars: Legacy Officially Unveiled, Looks Set To Be a Major Sequel

We'll find out more very soon

New York Comic Con will soon get underway, and it looks as if it’s set to feature a pretty exciting Star Wars announcement.

Lucasfilm Publishing will soon unveil that a new story is on the way in the form of a novel by the name of Star Wars: Legacy.

A listing for the book was spotted on Penguin Random House’s website by Twitter/X user StarWarsNewsNet.

Specifically, the book looks as if it’ll be published by Random House Worlds with it currently holding a release date on 26 July 2026.

It’s listed as being 304 pages long; it doesn’t specify whether it’s a junior, young adult, or adult novel.

Unfortunately, there’s no cover yet available either, nor description; we simply just have the title of Star Wars: Legacy.

What we do know for certain is that Lucasfilm Publishing is holding a panel on Saturday 11 October, so it shouldn’t be too long before we do get answers about this book.

With all of this in mind, for now, we can only speculate about what Star Wars: Legacy might be about.

We all know what ‘legacy’ means, but let’s take a look at some of its official definitions in the Oxford English Dictionary: “The action or an act of bequeathing”, or “A tangible or intangible thing handed down by a predecessor; a long-lasting effect of an event or process”.

It’s with that in mind that it’s extremely likely that Star Wars: Legacy somehow relates to a character, event, or time period we’re already familiar with making it very possible that this is a sequel of sorts.

I can’t see the story revolving around Rey as we know that her story is set to eventually continue in a new film instalment.

I’d love for this novel to be a conclusion to the events that began in The Acolyte but I just have this feeling that ‘Legacy’ would be used in relation to something from The Skywalker Saga.

Regardless of not knowing what it’s about, fans are already hyped.

“Already preordered,” said Twitter/X user JoshuaAndrews72.

If you want to keep an eye on the novel’s reveal, as I said, the Lucasfilm Publishing panel is due to take place on Saturday 11 October, tomorrow, at 11.30am EST / 04.30pm BST.

For those actually at New York Comic Con, it’ll take place in Panel Room 406.2.

Lucasfilm Publishing has been killing it as of late, so I expect big things.
