The Star Wars universe is stacked with so many iconic characters with deep lore that we can be here all day chatting about our favourites and what they mean to the franchise, such as Darth Plagueis.
Darth Plagueis is a mighty Sith Lord, even by typical Sith Lord standards. It’s said that Darth Plagueis is a man of science but is never afraid to venture into the dark side of his force powers, such as bringing those near to death back to life.
ICYMI: Here’s our chat with the cast of The Acolyte
For the most dedicated and holier-than-thou Jedi Master, bringing people back to life is somewhat of a no-no, as it requires channelling into the dark side of the force, something that is no issue for the likes of Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader and the aforementioned Darth Plagueis.

Yet, as much as an intriguing character Darth Plagueis is, he’s considered to be non-canon, which in a nutshell means that he’s not an official part of the Star Wars universe when it comes to movies and most TV series, falling into the “Legends” category of novels. However, that may have changed when Darth Plagueis featured in a canonical book without us even noticing.
As shared by Reddit user Pomojema_SWNN, Darth Plagueis featured in the 2021 book, Star Wars - Secrets of the Sith, the follow-up to 2020’s Star Wars - Secrets of the Jedi, written by Marc Sumerak.
“Join Emperor Palpatine, otherwise known as Darth Sidious, as he recounts the history of the Sith and other evil allies of the dark side,” reads the description of the book in question. “Star Wars: Secrets of the Sith will fascinate young fans with dark side knowledge, incredible artwork, and other interactive features, such as pop-ups, booklets, and lift-the-flap inserts.”
Furthermore, a photo shared by Twitter user Jacob’s Quest featured a description of Darth Plagueis in Star Wars - Secrets of the Sith but most of it was cropped out but you can at least see his name. What’s more, there is an image of him in a cloak with his face hidden in the shadows placed menacingly behind Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader.

What this means for future versions of Darth Plagueis in official Star Wars media, whether it be animated or live-action remains to be seen. But it does make me wonder whether we might see Darth Plagueis appear in the new Disney Plus animated series, Tales of the Jedi, one day.
