Someone has already beaten the open-world survival horror game, Sons of the Forest in under nine minutes. Yikes!
Sons of the Forest, the sequel to 2014's The Forest is said to be four times bigger than its predecessor and already players are smashing records. Like seriously, how on earth can this game be beaten in less than nine minutes? Luckily, we’ll soon find out how.
As reported by PC Gamer, speedrunner Benjamin Romero has beaten Sons of the Forest in 8 minutes and 45 seconds. As is often the case with speedruns, Romero’s efforts were aided by a few glitches and exploits. This form of speedrun is said to be known as Any% Normal Glitched run.

Benjamin Romero begins the game by climbing part way up a mountain from the starting area. Then they perform a leap of faith taking just enough damage not to die. The player cuts themself free, takes some meds to heal, grabs some resources and crafts a stick while on the run.
Then they sprint down a mountain at great speed without dying (somehow). This is a known glitch which basically turns the player into a human sledge (apparently). When approaching a bunker with a stick in hand, the player exploits another glitch by clipping through a wall to access an area that would usually require a keycard.
Falling into a corridor and avoiding some hideous monsters, armed with a stick (again), the player clips through another door that would otherwise require the Golden Armor. Finally, the player is just a short stretch from a “cavern complex”, and makes their way past some enemies to trigger the game's final cutscene. Job done.
It’s all very impressive and you can watch the speedrunning shenanigans below. However, I wonder how long until this speedrunning record is broken. I assume we won't be waiting very long.
