When (most) modern games look as good as they do, it’s no wonder that fans of old series are always crying out for their dated favourites to get the remake treatment.
You can hardly move for remakes these days. Last year, the release of The Last of Us Part I (a remake of a game that got a remaster in 2014) prompted many to argue that it didn’t deserve to be rebuilt from the ground up when the original still holds up so well. At the end of the day though, you can’t deny how good Part I looks, and the new accessibility options mean that a lot more people can enjoy the game.
The Last of Us Part I is coming to PC on 28 March - take a look at the game below.
On Reddit, gamers are once again discussing which titles they’d like to see make a comeback, and many are in agreement that the SOCOM series deserves some love. The tactical shooter series saw 10 instalments release between 2002 and 2011, but has been totally quiet for over a decade now. In particular, fans say that the PS2 classics SOCOM 1 and 2 would be very deserving of a modern-day remaster.

“No online shooter or online competitive game makes me feel the way SOCOM 1 and 2 did,” one user wrote. “We also still play this game with remote server and SOCOM 2 emulator. There’s a group of like 50 of us that still play every night,” another added. “As someone who always wanted to play the SOCOM games as a kid but never really got the chance to (I vaguely remember playing one of the games at a friend's once for a short period of time), I would love an HD remake or even a full on remake so that I could have the chance to get the chance that I never got, to be a part of the SOCOM fanbase,” another user said.
Hopefully the devs are listening - it’s definitely been long enough to justify a new release, and it’s clear that fans would be all over it.
