The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the Highlander of the video game world as it seems like it’s going to live forever with fans never having enough of the beloved fantasy RPG.
When Bethesda launched Skyrim for the first time in 2011, I’m sure even it could never have truly predicted its success and longevity. Yet, here we are over a decade later, the most popular entry in The Elder Scrolls series is still going as strong as ever.

One of the main reasons Skyrim is so popular today is largely thanks to its ever-vibrant modding community. That being said, whether you indulge in mods or not, there are literally years of fun to be had in the mythical world of Tamriel. As such, gamers have been voting for their best video games of all time and Skyrim comes out as a standout winner in a massive poll.

“My PEOPLE! After about a week of hard work, I have compiled the top 100 games of all time as determined by r/Videogames! I'd like to thank the 947 Redditors who gave me valid top ten lists to help me come to this occasion. You can see all of the lists (both valid and invalid) at the original post here,” posted a Reddit user.
In total, over 1,500 games were voted for in the massive poll which narrowed down to 100 with the likes of Fallout: New Vegas, Mass Effect 2, Bloodborne, The Last of Us, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and more joining Skyrim in the illustrious top ten.
Narrowing the poll down to the top five, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was in fifth place, followed by Ocarina of Time, Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption 2 and finally, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as the numero uno.
“Uh oh, yet more evidence that I should really get around to playing Bloodborne after getting the Platinum Trophy for Elden Ring a few months ago,” replied Simonion88 to the poll. “It's the only game in the top 10 I haven't played!”

“Amazing work! I wish I could have voted. I'm glad Kingdom Hearts 2 made the list since no games from the series made it on GQ's list,” said Skyraligh. “Also, I'm shocked Red Dead Redemption 2 isn't number one. I know it's number two, but I thought it was Reddit's most beloved game by a mile (it's one of my favourite games too). Thanks for doing this!”
“I know Ocarina of Time being number four is still really high praise but man it’s number one for me by a country mile, so it’s still hard to see it behind Elden Ring or Red Dead Redemption 2,” exclaimed ractivator.
