If you still struggle with lockpicking in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, this is the one trick you need to be aware of to make it much, much easier.
Skyrim really lets you make your character your own, with a progression system that rewards you for finding your own playstyle. For example, if you use bows and arrows a lot, your skill with those weapons will increase and you get to upgrade it further.
Lockpicking is a skill in itself and while you can get several perks to make it easier, or get a Master Key to bypass the mini game altogether, there’s a trick you can learn to make it a doddle.

Reddit Sephia14 user made a post asking players if they “use these little white dots as reference points when picking a lock”?
To tell the truth I’ve never noticed the dots before and neither did a lot of the comments, but those that have say it makes figuring out the lock configuration much less troublesome.
“Finally another person who does this,” read one of the comments, and while quite a few say they just mess with the lock and see what happens, others have their own methods of foolproofing the minigame.

“Same,” read another comment. “You literally don't need any skill points on lockpicking. I can lockpick Master Level locks at level 15.”
Another cool trick is for those playing on the Nintendo Switch version (Nintendo Switch 2 in just a few days) where, as one user said, you can turn on “HD rumble which makes lockpicking completely free. They didn't really think that one through.”
Personally, I’d suggest just booking it to Riften as soon as you start your playthrough and follow the Thieves Guild quests.
Once you get your Master Key, the entire game becomes much, much easier, as all the locked doors and locked chests might as well not be there anymore.
