Fans are praising an upcoming open-world RPG that looks like it could be the perfect blend of Skyrim and Assassin’s Creed.

When it comes to epic adventures with huge open worlds to explore, few do it better than Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls series and perhaps the best of the bunch is 2011’s Skyrim, originally released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before making its way to many other platforms over the years.

Check out the Crimson Desert trailer below!

As for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, while many may believe that the series has lost much of its focus on the stealth formula, hopefully, the franchise will return to its former glory with the arrival of Assassin’s Creed Shadows later this year.

However, if you were after something that had elements of both Skyrim and Assassin’s Creed, perhaps the upcoming Crimson Desert could be your cup of tea.

Developed and published by Pearl Abyss: “Through vibrant storytelling and intense action, Crimson Desert depicts realistic characters and narratives that revolve around the members of the Greymane Free Company fighting to achieve their noble mission.

“Experience the beautiful yet brutal continent of Pywel, where you will witness the conflicts and epic sagas surrounding Kliff, the leader of the Greymanes, as his mission takes him on an unforgettable journey,” the description of the game continued.

Recently, Pearl Abyss released a 50-minute gameplay preview of Crimson Desert and it did not disappoint many gamers on Reddit.

“Wow, this actually looks really cool,” said Gymleaders with Rogue_leader_X saying “This game looks amazing. Sony needs to be greatly involved with this studio as they clearly have talent.”

That being said, despite the potential of Crimson Desert, not everyone is impressed with many questioning its audio and some saying that it looks a bit rough.

“Oh my god, who greenlit those footstep sound effects? It sounds like someone hitting a cabbage with a stick every time a character takes a step,” exclaimed videodromejockey.

In our hands-on preview with Crimson Desert, GAMINGbible’s Kate said: “Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert is, on paper, exactly my kind of game. It ticks the boxes of being open-world and single-player, and falls into the action-adventure genre.”

Hopefully, with the release date of Crimson Desert yet to be announced, the folks at Pearl Abyss will give it plenty of time to cook in the oven, so to speak.

Crimson Desert is set to be released in 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. As for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it arrives on the very same platforms on 15 November 2024.
