Skyrim players blown away by alternate ending discovered after 1,000 hours

There is another way

Skyrim is a game that over a decade of existence, continues to surprise us to this very day.

When Bethesda first released The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in 2011 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it became an instant hit and pushed those consoles to the limit. Since that time, players have been sharing tales of epic adventures as we await the arrival of The Elder Scrolls VI.

The world of Skyrim is massive, not only filled with interesting NPCs and deadly creatures such as menacing dragons but there are also tons of epic quests waiting to be embarked outside of what the main story has to offer.

One such quest is ‘The Blessings of Nature’ in which you must help an NPC named Danica Pure-Spring prevent the ancient Gildergreen tree in Whiterun from dying. However, there is even more at stake, because by making the wrong choices, you can kill the Gildergreen worshippers.

To avoid this, if an NPC named Maurice Jondrelle joins you on your quest, after slashing away at the Gildergreen’s roots, he will ask if he can pray at the tree. If you allow him to do this, you will receive the Eldergleam Sapling that you then give to Danica, thus saving the tree and its worshippers.

“After almost 1000 hours, I just found out that you can get a new Gildegreen Sapling and you can save everyone in the Eldergleam Sanctuary by talking to Maurice and following his lead. How cool is this?” exclaimed Redditor Fizzet713.

“I discovered this by accident years ago,” replied VRHobbit.

“This is something I've never seen, Maurice has never triggered for me at the temple, so I've always done the sap method,” said ultinateplayer.

“I had no idea you could do this. I kept trying to slow time and save the people in the sanctuary. They just kept dying, and I got bored of reloading. I'm gonna try this next time,” Shalash-Elin responded.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It's also available with an Xbox Game Pass subscription at no extra cost.
