The Mercenaries: Additional Orders, the DLC for the time trial mode in Resident Evil Village, is letting players step into the shoes of Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg and Lady Dimitrescu. However, Capcom has had to make an unforgivable change to our fearsome femme fatale in order for her to be playable: she's now shorter than she was.
Lady Dimitrescu (who is inspired by a real historical serial killer) stands at an impressive 9 feet, 6 inches tall. That feature, along with her imperious demeanour and scary tendencies for blood-letting, set the Internet ablaze back in 2021. Maggie Robertson won awards for her portrayal of Lady Dimitrescu and it's clear that she's the standout character among the eccentric lot that we were introduced to in Village.

In an interview with Polygon, game director Kento Kinoshita revealed that Lady Dimitrescu's height ended up incurring a couple of issues in the development of Additional Orders. "It’s necessary that the player can control their character easily, and to make that possible we did adjust her height to a little under nine feet tall," explained the director.

Wipe your eyes. The team had a huge amount of fun deciding what attacks Lady Dimitrescu would have in her arsenal, including the dramatic furniture throw. Where does the furniture come from? That's not important.
"Even though we knew it would be difficult to implement such a tall stature, we decided it was too important not to," continued Kinoshita. "Also, we were able to express the two sides of her - the calm, dignified side, and the excitable, deranged side - with the Thrill Gauge system. Her three daughters were received very well by fans too, so we decided to include them as one of Lady Dimitrescu’s actions."
Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, including The Winters Expansion and The Mercenaries: Additional Orders, will launch on 28 October.
