A new mod has just dropped for the PC port of Rockstar Games’ first Red Dead Redemption that promises to completely “overhaul” the game’s graphics, but be warned; you may need a PhD in modding to actually install this one.
“RDR Reimagined” is a graphics overhaul for Red Dead Redemption from mod author Frames Of Screen that aims to revamp the “Lighting, Colour Grading, Post Processing & more” for the PC version of the game.
According to mod author Frames Of Screen, RDR Reimagined is supposed to make the game look more like it’s sequel. Frames Of Screen explains that the mod “attempts to revamp the visuals of Red Dead Redemption, mainly taking inspiration from Red Dead Redemption 2.”

And I can see it. The muddier, deeper colours and warmer lighting effects do make it look a lot more like Red Dead Redemption 2.
Don’t take my word for it though. Take a look at some gameplay footage of RDR Reimagined in action, uploaded by the mod author over on YouTube.
Now, while it does all look extremely impressive, you should know ahead of time that installing this mod is no easy task.
The instructions in RDR Reimagined have nine unique steps, which is a far cry from a lot of Nexus mods that simply require you to download them and potentially mess around with your load order.

A lot of the comments are mostly just from people complaining that installing the mod is way too complex, but one of them was extremely helpful.
Commenter RogueNation702 shared a video of YouTuber L321’s tutorial on how to get the mod up and running, which seems to have helped a bunch of commenters make sense of the complicated instructions.
Also, this is probably a good time to warn you that it seems that RDR Reimagined has a pretty brutal effect on Red Dead Redemption’s FPS. You should only attempt to give this mod a go if you have a PC powerful enough to handle it!
