It may not have been officially announced yet but that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating over what the next title in the Red Dead Redemption series could feature.
It has been almost six years since Red Dead Redemption 2 was first released so it is no wonder that fans are eager to hear 1) if there will be a third entry and 2) what it will be about.

With Red Dead Redemption 2’s story acting as a prequel to Red Dead Redemption, it remains to be seen if Red Dead Redemption 3 will again go back in time or if it will leave the end of the 19th century behind and move on.

However, if it did go back in time again, some fans believe this prequel may have already been teased courtesy of a photograph found in Red Dead Redemption 2.
A photograph uncovered during the story reveals a much younger looking Dutch, Hosea and Arthur which was taken during a period we don’t know much about story-wise. As a result, some fans think this would be the perfect era to set Red Dead Redemption 3 during.
“The prequel, to the prequel,” one user posted to r/reddeadredemption. “Red Dead Redemption 3. Playing as Arthur, or maybe even Dutch and Hosea too, the age they are in the picture. I think that would be cool.”
As you can imagine, this post soon led to a lot of discourse with some people agreeing, some hoping for a brand-new story with brand-new characters and others hoping for a middle ground where we see some of the Van der Linde gang but not have the story focused on them anymore.

One user said: “I’d rather we get a completely new story with new characters to be honest. The Van der Linde gang story has been told perfectly, I don’t think we need more”.
Another disagreed, saying: “This has been my dream for RDR3 as well— though I was thinking you would play as young Dutch and Hosea, then play as young Arthur during the epilogue.”
However the story goes, let us just hope that we get some news about the third entry very soon.
