Some fans think Rockstar Games has been teasing the plot of Red Dead Redemption III since the very first game in the series, and even I gotta admit… this would be incredible if it’s true.
Who do you think we might play as in a hypothetical sequel to Red Dead Redemption II? John’s son Jack, as he grapples with his new status as an outlaw?
Oh, or maybe we could play as fan-favourite, Charles, as he manoeuvres through a new America as both a Native American and a black man?
And of course, there’s always the old classic: Sadie Adler, who would be the first playable woman in the Red Dead Redemption franchise. Given that Rockstar Games has finally introduced a playable female character in Grand Theft Auto VI, it’s more than possible.

Well, one fan over on the r/reddeadredemption subreddit has a completely different idea: a prequel to the prequel, featuring a playable Hosea and Dutch.
The comments are mixed on this one, but some fans do like the sounds of it.
“If we're going that route with it, let's make it interesting and have Dutch or Hosea be the player character”, commented user Witty-Ad5743.
“Show us how the gang got where it did.”

“I think playing as Hosea might be interesting and we could also get to know bessy”, replied user FreshLettuceYard.
“If the thing of the series is redemption then we could easily have Hosea as main, Dutch in the other hand…”
Honestly, I think this is a cool idea. Red Dead Redemption has always felt like a story told in reverse, so doubling down on that is a neat concept.
Plus, there are still a lot of things we don’t know about Arthur and Hosea’s early days. And there are an awful lot of cool moments that the gang talk about that would make awesome missions.

Alright, I’m talking myself into this a bit too much. We probably won’t get Red Dead Redemption III until 2040 at this rate anyway, so it’s best I don’t get myself too hyped.
