A recent Red Dead Redemption 2 update has rendered Rockstar Games’ wild west hit unplayable for some.
Released initially in 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, and later for PC, Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of Rockstar Games’ most popular titles in recent years. During its first two weeks of launch, RDR2 generated a whopping $725 million and by 2022, it had sold a reported 50 million units.
So it should come as little surprise that Red Dead Redemption 2 still remains popular to this day, despite Rockstar Games seemingly leaving its multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, out to dry.
Five years have passed, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is still as immersive as it ever was with players living their best lives in the digital wild west. Sadly, however, at least a couple of players have not been enjoying RDR2 as much as others, all thanks to a game-breaking bug on PC.

As reported by TheGamer (via Techradar), a bug for the Windows 11 version with update KB5023774 is stopping Red Dead Redemption 2 from launching. So when we say it’s a game-breaking bug, it absolutely is. The game is literally unplayable for those players.
Worst still, it seems that Microsoft isn't willing to do anything about this Windows 11 bug and has instead told those players to “upgrade to Windows 11, version 22H2”. So in other words, it’s their problem, so fix it or at least that’s how the message is coming across to those players.
Sure, those players could just upgrade to the new version of Windows 11, but perhaps they're happy with the OS that they have and to be fair, Red Dead Redemption 2 was designed to work on previous versions of Windows 11. At the end of the day, it really should be on Microsoft to fix bugs for whichever version of Windows 11 some choose to use.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is also backwards compatible with new-gen consoles.
