Rockstar Games’ 2018 title Red Dead Redemption 2 is somehow still finding ways to surprise people.
Perhaps it shouldn’t come as too much of a shock, given how this game is absolutely chocked full of secrets and gameplay mechanics that you’re rarely ever informed of.
Today’s example is a little different however, as using the gameplay mechanic in question actually results in a different outcome for one of Red Dead Redemption 2’s quests.

Over on the r/RDR2 subreddit, user tall_building revealed that the mission “Help a Brother Out” has a hidden secret that will help players earn a little bit of extra Honor.
Help a Brother Out is a Stranger mission that Arthur can take on during Chapter 4, once you reach Saint Denis.
Take a look at some of our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 player moments in action below.
If you speak to Brother Dorkins in the city, he’ll offer you the mission after asking you for a donation. You’re tasked with investigating the Saint Denis Pawnbroker, as Brother Dorkins believes that the owner of the shop is keeping some teenagers captive.

Once you discover the teenagers, the mission will end once you bring them back to Brother Dorkins, but there is a little something extra you can choose to do in between.
As tall_building showcased in their thread, should you lead the two captives over to the shopkeeper’s cash register you can actually give all of its contents to them - in return for a little bit of positive Honor.
It seems a few people in the thread didn’t even realise you could rob cash registers entirely, even outside of this mission.
You can actually empty the cash registers of any of the locations involved in the hidden side business quests too, such as the doctor's office in Valentine and the moonshine distillery in Strawberry.

I wonder if the people in that thread know about the other hidden secret in Saint Denis…
