Despite its popularity, Red Dead Redemption 2 has seemingly been abandoned by Rockstar Games while they focus development on Grand Theft Auto VI, with publisher Take-Two Interactive promising “perfection” from the studio.
Luckily, Red Dead Redemption fans who aren’t interested in GTA VI, and can’t fathom waiting for Red Dead Redemption 3 or a Red Dead Redemption remake, can still occupy their time with free online events, with a new event starting today for a limited time.
With a focus on the previous Moonshiners DLC, the new event offers a variety of rewards and incentives for players to complete missions, take part in challenges, and spend their hard-earned cash on weapons, apparel and buyable property.
There are several challenges/offers to complete, which will reward the player with exclusive clothing items, discounts on weapons, upgrades, player emotes, and other key items from the Moonshiners update. Timed exclusives are also on offer, meaning players will need to sell their supply of moonshine during specific intervals in the next few weeks to walk away with some more stylish outfits and accessories.

As with every Rockstar Games event, players will also benefit from a boost to the amount of cash and experience they gain from missions and a variety of discounts on highly sought-after ill-gotten gains. Basically, all Moonshiners-related missions will receive a 2X or 3X boost to the money and experience they yield, making them worth a go, especially if you’re a new player, or just need a little extra cash to buy something that’s caught your eye.
There are also huge discounts of up to 50% on Moonshiner items and locations, allowing players to change up the appearance of their Moonshine Shacks with a reduced cost to cosmetics. Various clothing items and gear will also be much cheaper.
It’s unfortunate that Red Dead Redemption 2 didn’t receive the same amount of post-launch content that Grand Theft Auto V did, with many still upset that no single-player DLC was released, leading to petitions for Rockstar to update the game. It’s also led to many fans making DLC themselves in the form of mods and passion-projects.

It’ll likely be a long wait before we get anything new for the Red Dead Redemption series, but online events like these are better than nothing.
