Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to soar to higher heights with an astonishing 45 million units sold since its release in 2018.

According to Take-Two Interactive’s latest financial earnings report, Red Dead has sold over 68 million units worldwide, so the fact that the third game in the franchise counts for two-thirds of its commercial success is staggering. Really though, I don't know what we expected. It's one of the greatest games ever made (and no, this is not about the ultra-realistic horse anatomy) for its incredible level of detail and heart-wrenching story that sticks with you long after the credits roll.

Whether or not this shifts Rockstar Games' stance on the potential remaster of Red Dead Redemption and the new-gen upgrades for Red Dead Redemption 2 is yet to be seen. Fans were raising the roof for the second story to be retold in the latest iteration of the RAGE engine, and with sales figures like these, it's a no brainer to rake in the cash with new-gen versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.

"Remasters of GTA IV & RDR1 were on the table a few years ago, but Rockstar chose not to proceed with the projects in mind. The poor reception of the Trilogy DE might be a reason behind that decision," said leaker Tez2, adding that the third game will "never" get a lick of paint for the newest generation of consoles. That wasn't very "yeehaw" of you.
