A recent insider report has revealed that Rockstar Games could be returning to Red Dead Redemption 2 after it is done with Grand Theft Auto 6.
Before development went into full swing for Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar Games was reportedly working on an upgraded port for Red Dead Redemption 2 on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.

Now according to well-known Rockstar insider Tez2, the developers have not forgotten about Red Dead Redemption 2 and may be returning to it once it is done with GTA 6.
In a post on a GTA forum, they wrote: “We know that RDR2’s next-gen edition was in development but was halted, the same as [Red Dead Online] updates.”
Furthermore, the updates first planned for Red Dead Redemption 2 have now been implemented into GTA 6 but may return to its original title once GTA 6 has been released.
“So, after releasing VI, Rockstar could turn around and incorporate some of these upgrades into RDR2 on current-gen consoles. Rockstar Editor is one example,” he said

Additionally, Tez2 also references a rumoured expansion that would take Red Dead Redemption 2 players to Mexico.
“They were exploring the idea of including Mexico for a story expansion, but didn’t follow through and moved on to VI,” he continued.
However, if Rockstar does turn its attention back to RDR2 once it is done with GTA 6, we could see this expansion come to fruition, albeit in a few years.
