Red Dead Redemption 2 still the best looking game ever four years on, fans say

Fans on Reddit have been praising Red Dead Redemption 2's visuals, which have barely aged in the four years since the game's release.

Despite being a previous-gen release, gamers still think that Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best looking games out there, and for good reason.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an iconic game, and easily one of the greatest single-player adventures of all time. Rockstar Games pulled out all the stops with this one, and it shows - although it’s yet to receive a new-gen update (last year, an insider claimed that plans for this may have been scrapped completely), fans agree that the title has barely aged a day when it comes to its visuals.

Take a look at some of the funniest wins and fails from Red Dead Redemption 2 below.

“Four+ years later Red Dead Redemption 2 still has one [sic] of the best non-ray-traced illumination,” Reddit user ArateshaNungastori wrote. “I’m always f***ing amazed how good this game looks,” replied DougieSenpai. “RDR2 is a beautiful masterpiece,” agreed Literally_Pepe. “Four+ years ain't that long a time, I bet RDR2 will remain a visual benchmark for at least another decade,” added brandyrelish.

When RDR2 looks as good as it does, it’s hard to imagine how a follow-up title could top it. Although Red Dead Redemption 3 hasn’t been confirmed to be in development, back in 2021, Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive, confirmed that as with any successful series, it will continue at some point. How far away that’ll be is another matter - we’re still waiting on GTA VI to get a trailer, and it’s been almost a full decade since GTA V was released. Feel old yet?

We’ll all be anxiously anticipating its eventual release, anyway. Just think, there’s a very decent chance that the next generation of consoles will already be out by then. Hopefully, those will be a little easier to buy than the elusive PS5s have been.
