So, we just got a new cinematic trailer for Rainbow Six Siege, which centres around Ela and Zofia’s backstories - namely how they grew up together and evolved as part of Team Rainbow. As I’m sure you can tell from the headline though, that isn't the part that people on the internet are most excited about.
James Porter, better known as Smoke, is one of the game’s defending operators. According to his biography on the official website, the British man has an aptitude for science, and is described as a bit aloof and reckless. Despite never removing his gas mask, Smoke has never been without fans, but the latest trailer ended with the grand reveal, and predictably, people are going wild.
Check out the latest Rainbow Six Siege cinematic below, complete with Smoke's face reveal.
Over on the r/Rainbow6 subreddit, people have been thirsting after the character, and not even trying to be slightly subtle about it: “[F**k] I am getting horny again,” wrote Best-Atmosphere-5713. “He’s actually kinda cute,” said abc123cnb. “I'm extremely horny [right now],” commented Jesus_PK.
Some fans also pointed out the fact that Smoke seems to have some sort of scarring down the side of his head, which has obviously been hidden by his mask for all this time. This might line up with some lore that’s tucked away in his “psychological report”, which reads: “It’s clear that Porter’s parents encouraged him to be a free spirit and develop his education and personality on his own terms. While it resulted in some unfortunate mishaps - one science experiment left some physical scars[,] but no emotional ones that I can see.”

Rainbow Six Siege hasn’t exactly been getting the best press lately. Last month, it was claimed that the game may have been using stolen assets from an artist for years - specifically, the glitchy effect you see when Mute’s jammers are active. Apparently, Ubisoft hadn’t paid the artist for their work, or even asked for their permission to use it, which obviously really isn’t good if it’s true.
Right now, the fanbase’s entire focus definitely seems to be on Smoke’s face, though, and I can’t say that anyone can really blame them. Cue the surge of fan art.
