Last week, the new Predator series prequel, Prey, finally dropped on streaming services, and it’s safe to say that it’s been a hit with both fans and critics alike.
The film, which is set 300 years in the past, follows the tale of Naru (Amber Midthunder) - a skilled warrior who aims to become a hunter for her tribe. Given the franchise that the movie is part of, though, I’m sure you already know what’s coming: “The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries,” the movie’s synopsis reads.
Take a look at the trailer for Prey right here.
As reported by ComicBook, at the time of writing, Prey stands as the best reviewed movie in the entire Predator series (according to Rotten Tomatoes). As well as a positive audience score of 82%, the new prequel has a super impressive critic score of 93% (from a total of 176 reviews) - a rating which none of the other films have come close to.

For comparison’s sake, the runner up is none other than the original 1987 Predator - with a sweet 80% on the Tomatometer (from 55 reviews), there’s no doubt that it’s still a classic. From the main series (so, not counting the Alien vs Predator films), it’s Predator 2 which scores the lowest, with a far less-than-stellar critic score of 32% (from 31 reviews).
Prey is available to watch now on Disney+ in the UK, and Hulu in the US.
