Last weekend, a Twitch streamer was assaulted mid-stream while walking around Amsterdam. Reydempto, who has been living in Amsterdam since 2009, started streaming in order to learn more about Dutch culture and practice local dialect.
As reported by The Gamer, the streamer was walking around downtown with a selfie stick on Sunday night (13 February), and after commenting that he felt “totally fine” because of the “police stations everywhere”, he was approached by an intoxicated man, who clearly took exception to Reydempto vlogging.
“I'm live on Twitch, and I'm gonna kill this motherf**ker,” the attacker said, as he grabbed the streamer by the throat. “Oh god, let go of me man,” Reydempto replied. “No seriously, let the f**k go of me.”

Content warning: the following footage contains scenes which some viewers may find distressing.
The streamer then seems to drop his camera, and although the stream remained live, the screen went black, and fans began to panic. As reported by Dexerto, he was choked until he became unconscious, although he later updated his fans via Discord to let them know he was okay.
“Pretty sure I hit my head but not very hard. I felt much better once the oxygen returned to my brain,” he wrote. “I am home safe now. Going to go straight to the police station tomorrow morning. I’m 100% certain this is not going to go anywhere, but I’m going to file a report anyway.”

Thankfully though, a suspect has since been arrested. As tweeted by the official Amsterdam Police Unit account (and translated by Google): “In the investigation into this case, the detective was able to identify a suspect. It is a 20-year-old man. Witnesses to the incident remain welcome [to] us!”
The attacker’s face was clearly recorded on the stream, which likely aided the police in their investigation. As stated by the Amsterdam Police, any witnesses to the case are encouraged to come forward with any information they might have.
