Do you have an old console that’s given up the ghost, but you can’t be bothered paying through the nose to get it repaired?
Well great news, because a little pop-up is promising to fix all of your “retro” consoles free of charge, regardless of if you’re sitting on a Nintendo Gamecube, an OG Xbox, or even a limited edition PlayStation.
For two days only, a “Retro Console Clinic” pop-up is taking over the Four Quarters arcade bar in Elephant Park, London, courtesy of Pringles.

According to the Four Quarters’ Instagram, the Retro Console Clinic pop-up “will offer free repairs on the nation’s beloved nostalgic gaming consoles from the 00s and 90s by their expert technicians.”
The pop-up will be open from 12-8 pm both days if you’re keen to book yourself in for some free repairs, but if you’re worried about potentially missing out due to high demand you can pre-book a slot ahead of time.
If you’re keen, you can book ahead on Eventbrite by following this link.
The Eventbrite page also offers some specific details on exactly what counts as “retro” these days, and it sounds like as long as you don’t bring in anything more recent than an “original” Xbox or a PlayStation 2, then you’re in business.

Oh and, also for some reason they just can’t do Sega Saturns. No idea why, but I’m sure that’s sad news for all two of you who could have taken advantage of a free Saturn repair.
Otherwise, it sounds like all “handheld and desktop consoles” pre-2000s are fair game, so if you’re in the London area and you have a retro console tucked away somewhere, I’d advise booking ahead of time.
Anyway, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to check on my pension because apparently an OG Xbox is classified as retro these days.
