Now though Xbox fans will soon be able to pre-install major updates for the latest games, and if you’re an Xbox Insider you can try it right now.
Microsoft announced the news yesterday, saying "Games that enable support for update pre-download will allow updates to be downloaded days before they are scheduled to release, so you can jump in and start playing right when the update goes live."
As an example, if this feature was around when the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update was about to drop players could pre-install the update and play it as soon as it becomes available, not when it’s finished downloading.
The first game to offer this type of support will be Sea Of Thieves, which has another big content update on the way.

PlayStation users might recognise this feature as it’s been on PlayStation 5 consoles for a while now, which means everyone can jump into the fun without a moment to lose.
Some other improvements to Xbox’s service were also included in the update, specifically for connecting to wireless networks, as it was believed a feature would soon roll out for your console to remember multiple networks for times when you take it with you to places.
