Xbox system update rolls out one of the best new features we've ever seen

Xbox system update rolls out one of the best new features we've ever seen

Okay, this feature is pretty darn cool

This Xbox system change hasn't fully rolled out to everyone yet, but it’s already proving to be one of the best updates Microsoft has implemented.

None of you need reminding how much backlash Microsoft has faced recently following a string of Bethesda layoffs.

Exclusives have been culled, and employees have been left without jobs despite all their hard work and award winning.

You know what you should do before playing Fallout 4? This.

In short, it’s a mess.

Despite all this chaos though, Xbox still needs commending for this update, simply because of how ingenious it is. So much so, we can’t help but wonder why it wasn’t introduced sooner...

Members of the Insider Program were given access to the “new Xbox Update Preview”, in which the “update pre-download" was revealed.

Have you sat down to play your favourite game, only for a download to cut into your precious gaming time? We’ve all been there, and it always proves frustrating.

Well, that issue could soon become a thing of the past.

According to the preview notes, “Games that enable support for update pre-download will allow updates to be downloaded days before they are scheduled to release, so you can jump in and start playing right when the update goes live!”

Considering how many times I've sat staring longingly at the screen, tapping my feet, while watching an enormous Baldur’s Gate 3 update download, this feature can't come soon enough.

The notes tell users to “be on the lookout” for this update becoming available.

Furthermore, Xbox announced that Sea of Thieves will be one of the first titles to support this new feature.

How long it’ll take for all Xbox users to begin using this feature remains unknown; we suspect it will need some further testing with the Insider Program before being given the green light for everyone.

Still, it’s a promising feature we can’t wait to try for ourselves.
