Xbox Series X 'terrible' update leaves gamers furious ahead of Starfield

Not what we wanted to see

Microsoft has released a new feature as part of an update for Xbox consoles that fans have deemed genuinely terrible. Although it doesn't really take much to annoy gamers at the best of times, if we're being honest.

Xbox and PlayStation fans are used to several updates a year at this point, with all consoles typically getting shiny new features designed to improve system stability and performance, make our lives easier, and generally improve the overall experience.

Take a look at Starfield in action below!

One of the more recent updates to Xbox consoles has caused particular controversy, making a number of changes that many fans would rather see outright reversed.

Among the changes is a new "Most Played" games tab that doesn't actually display most-played games, which is obviously not ideal.

Another issue that players have started to notice is that the My Games and Apps icon appears to have been replaced with a button to "Browse the Store instead.

"Why did they put the store button where the my games and apps button was?" one angry Reddit user asked.

While some have agreed this is a dumb move, others have reported the icons haven't changed position at all. It's unclear why this change hasn't impacted everyone or if it will be rolled back, but it certainly seems like an odd move to change something so small yet so crucial.

"Fully agree this is terrible," another Reddit user agrees while another comment reads,:"This is a stupid change... I hate it."

"Definitely an L on Microsoft's part," another added. "On a console I paid hundreds of dollars for, via a service I also pay monthly for, I should not be getting this many f*****g ads on my home screen."

It's worth noting that Xbox tends to accept feedback on updates, so assuming this odd change wasn't a mistake, there's every chance it could be rolled back yet.
