It's time to flex those Mario Kart skills

An upcoming title is now free-to-play for all Xbox Series X/S and PC users and is perfect for fans of old-school Mario Kart.

Set to release fully on 27 July, Stampede: Racing Royale is due to be the “wildest racing event in existence” as up to 60 participants step on the gas in thrilling kart racing and battle events.

Check out the trailer for Mario Kart 8 below!

Developed by Sumo Digital, the title is reminiscent of recent racing titles such as Smurfs Kart and Disney Speedstorm, and it’s clear it has drawn inspiration from the original 1992 Super Mario Kart.

Featuring a huge range of power-ups, boost-drifting abilities and slipstream mechanics, Stampede: Racing Royale will task you with avoiding elimination by fighting your way to the front of the herd and becoming champion.

Not only can you race other players in three-round eliminator events but you can choose how you do it. Stampede Races offers classic karting action on inventive circuits whereas Stampede Battles sees competitors locked in power-up laden arenas as they fight their way to victory.

When you are not racing, you can collect and customise a wide selection of vehicles. Whether you add stickers or custom paint, it is up to you to make your wheels stand out from the crowd.

With multiple updates and events set to be added offering new challenges, Stampede: Racing Royale will never feel stale and whether you play with friends or family or go it alone, you will finally get to put those Mario Kart skills to use.

Stampede: Racing Royale is available for free for Xbox Series X/S and PC users via Xbox Game Preview. A PlayStation version is unconfirmed at this stage but a Steam early access version is in development.

Not only that but Xbox users do not have to have an Xbox Game Pass subscription in order to play.
