The next Xbox console is already getting roasted by fans.
Despite everything now being an Xbox, a new console is in development. Furthermore, it’s said to launch in 2026.
A lot sooner than most of us anticipated, we think you’ll agree.

But its supposed release date isn’t the issue here – it's the console’s name.
Reddit user TheEternalGazed shared several social media posts from “generally reliable source” Ghost of Hope.
In case you've forgotten, here's that Xbox advert everyone loves so much
Included in the information is the name of Microsoft’s new hardware.

Drum roll please...
Xbox Prime.
You can imagine how gamers are responding to this, even without knowing if the information is true or not.
“Microsoft is actually stupid enough to do something like this,” Forwhomamifloating remarked.

Redditor BergaChatting joked, “Oh, if he thinks the name sounds weird then it's definitely the name Xbox is going with.”
There are plenty of users tearing into this “corny” name, yet it might only be a placeholder and not the actual title.
User StarZax suggested this, saying, “The name is... an improvement over Xbox Series that's for sure... Then they will release Prime S, Prime X, Prime Portable and it'll be the same mess as usual.”
Faith in Microsoft is minimal. So much so that some believe the console will fail regardless of its name.

“This console is going to flop more than the Xbox Series consoles,” commented AlwaysOmni.
Moving away from the belief that the next generation of consoles is just around the corner, many assume that Microsoft’s next launch will be an upgraded version of the Xbox Series.
Rumours have been circulating that suggests that Xbox is working on new hardware that’s not the new Xbox.
Though, as we’ve seen above, Xbox is well known for being unconventional.

Moreover, there’s the question whether a new console is necessary when everything is an Xbox...?
For now, we have more questions than answers.
Still, while that’s the case, fans are in agreement that this Xbox name is embarrassingly bad.
