Xbox is adding an easier way for you to spend free credit on your consoles.

For those who are fully deep in the Xbox and Microsoft ecosystem, an upcoming change is coming to how Microsoft Rewards allows you to spend your earned points.

A new update on the Xbox website has revealed that players will soon be able to spend rewards points directly on a console like the Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One.

This marks a big change from before, where you’d need to be on a web or mobile browser to redeem rewards and couldn’t do it from a console.

If you’re aiming to use your points to redeem rewards specific to Xbox, you’ll have an easier time doing so once the update drops.

The new system works by allowing you to use your reward points at checkout when purchasing something from the Xbox Store.

The website reads: “Spend points directly on your Xbox console. Spending your points has never been easier. On your console, simply choose something you want from the Store and use your points at checkout.”

It should be noted that points can only be used for single-item purchases made on the store, and can’t be used to redeem subscriptions. However, Microsoft Rewards does include a month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate as a potential reward when redeeming reward points.

There’s no announced date for when this new feature will be available, but the website notes that it is “coming soon”.

Microsoft Rewards also has a few benefits for users who are current Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Xbox Game Pass Premium members can earn twice as many rewards points, while Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users will earn up to four times the number of points.

Earning these rewards points can include tasks like opening the Xbox app on your mobile phone, playing a game on Xbox Game Pass, or earning achievements in them. The more you do each day in a row, the more points you can earn.

You can then use these points to add more months onto your subscription, buy games, or enter in various sweepstakes.
