Yesterday marked the first day of QuakeCon, the yearly convention that ZeniMax Media (the parent company of Bethesda) holds in celebration of everything id Software related.
QuakeCon doubles as both a platform for future id Software announcements and as a LAN party for those looking to play older titles like Quake and DOOM with some like-minded LAN lovers.
It’s the announcement side of things we want to focus on today however, as Bethesda announced that two classic id Software titles are getting updated and ported to several systems.

As confirmed in a tweet from the QuakeCon Twitter account yesterday, enhanced editions of both DOOM and DOOM II are now available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, GOG, the Nintendo Switch, Steam, the Epic Games storefront and all Windows and Xbox storefronts.
Both games come packaged together in one updated bundle for £7.99, with a bunch of new features to boot.
The DOOM + DOOM II bundle features “new content, community published mods, online multiplayer up to 16 players with cross-play, and up to 120hz in 4K”.
Xbox owners need not fret about the price however, as if you have an active Game Pass subscription then DOOM + DOOM II is already available for you to download for free.

Also, if you own either DOOM or DOOM II on any of the previously listed storefronts, then you can now claim the DOOM + DOOM II package for free. Even if you just own one of the games, you’ll still get the other one that’s included in the new package for free too.
Day 2 of QuakeCon is probably already underway by the time this article goes live, so keep an eye out for any more news from the convention in the next few hours.
Now that I mention it, it’s been a hot minute since we got a new Quake game. You know, the game the convention is named after. Throw us a bone here guys.
