It’s been far too long since our favourite purple dragon, that is to say Spyro, hopped onto our consoles with a new instalment.
In fact, I’d go as far as saying that we’re going to have to start putting up ‘missing’ posters if this franchise isn’t revived as soon as possible.
Spyro last appeared in 2018’s Spyro Reignited Trilogy and fair to say, fans are itching for a new release - myself included.

Toys For Bob do keep appearing to drop cryptic hints. Last year, a post was shared by the studio that included a picture of developers listening to a presentation on Unreal Engine 5.
The presentation screen was blanked out but it did have a noticeably purple hue. In January of 2023, Toys For Bob's new years post included a picture of Spyro, with the studio noting their excitement for the year to come.
Granted, the purple fella did show up in the now-doomed Crash Team Rumble, but surely that cannot be all that is in store.
Crash Team Rumble is sadly ending support after nine months although servers will remain live.
After it was announced that Microsoft would be carrying out mass layoffs, news broke confirming that Toys For Bob - the studio behind recent Spyro and Crash entries - had gone independent.

The studio looks to be maintaining a strong connection with Microsoft though. In a new report by Windows Central, it’s claimed that Toys For Bob has reached an agreement with Xbox that’ll see them produce their first game as an independent studio for the platform.
Matt Booty, leader of Xbox’s game content division reportedly said during a recent town hall that while he won’t confirm what the game is, “it will be similar to games Toys For Bob has made in the past”.
The studio recently told fans to “keep their horns on”, which sounds like a Spyro tease if I’ve ever heard one.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that Toys For Bob’s next game is a confirmed Xbox-exclusive, but it’s most definitely a possibility.

It’s all very up in the air but given Booty’s tease, it sounds like Toys For Bob fans are in for a treat if the upcoming game is of a similar ilk to what’s come before.
