Halo 3 has returned to us better than ever thanks to a new expansion you’ll be able to try out very soon, for free.
The next Halo game is a long, long way away unfortunately and from the look of things, Halo Studios is taking us right back to the start with a reboot.
That’s okay though, as while Halo: Infinite was a step in the right direction, there was simply too much dead air to fill,
In the meantime though, you’ll soon be able to play brand-new content for what I’d consider to be the best Halo game, Halo 3 - and the best part is it won’t cost you a penny.

Halo: New Covenant is a fan-made expansion for Halo 3, specifically Halo 3: ODST, that’s coming to the Steam workshop very soon.
The expansion adds three new missions to the game with a fourth on the way, and even includes some stories that take place after the ending of Halo 3 where Master Chief is trapped aboard the Forward Unto Dawn.
Starring Chief, Arbiter, Cortana, Lord Hood and new characters, the missions include animated cutscenes and voice acting, and they look exceptionally good from the trailer.
If that’s piqued your interest, you’ll be happy to hear it’s coming to Steam later this month, specifically 29 January.

Taking a beloved story like this one and sending it in a new direction was a bold move, but from what we’ve seen so far it looks like it might just pull it off.
In other Halo news, there are rumours out there that Halo: The Master Chief Collection might finally be making its way over to the PlayStation 5 as Xbox continues to embrace ports.
Those same rumours suggest Halo: The Master Chief Collection could also find its way onto the Nintendo Switch 2 as well.
As a lifelong Halo fan, I hope it happens as it feels like it’s the right time for more potential fans to get their hands on these great games regardless of the hardware they play on.
