This year’s Xbox Games Showcase was, quite simply, breathtaking.
Dare I say that it was easily one of the best showcases we’ve seen in recent years? The world premieres kept on coming thick and fast, offering a great mix of cinematic reveals and gameplay first-looks.
Gears of War: E-Day was arguably the night's biggest headliner, but DOOM: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 also proved to be very popular with viewers.

And that’s just to mention a few. I might be here a while if I was to dive into every single reveal, but there is one in particular that I want to talk about: Fable.
Fable surfaced during the showcase with a brand new trailer which confirmed the game’s 2025 launch window.
One insider has since claimed to know more precisely when exactly Fable is planning on releasing.
Take a look at Fable’s brand new trailer below.
The Verge’s Tom Warren suggested via his Notepad newsletter that Fable will be aiming to launch between October and December of 2025.

“Sources tell me Microsoft is currently targeting Fable to release between October and December 2025, so it could still be another 18 months away,” he wrote.
He then added, “Microsoft didn’t put a date or release window on Gears of War: E-Day, but a few months back, I’d heard it was targeting a release in 2025 — ahead of even Fable. That may have changed by now, so the lack of a release window gives The Coalition some breathing room here.”
But I don’t want to get into the specifics of Gears of War: E-Day too much.
Let’s hop back to Fable because what I’m concerned about here isn’t the long wait ahead.

It’s the fact that Fable may be going head-to-head with Grand Theft Auto VI which is targeting a Fall 2025 release (September to November).
Let’s face it, any game launching close to Grand Theft Auto VI is going to seriously harm its chances of success.
It awaits to be seen what’ll happen but I know I’ll be revisiting this beloved franchise the very first day I possibly can.
