Steam surprise release storms to top of charts, and you can play it free

It's a big deal

A surprising indie game is storming its way to the top of the Steam charts, and fans can’t seem to get enough of it, despite it only releasing yesterday.

It’s called Schedule I and, at the time of writing, has over 51k concurrent players on Steam, with a peak of 142k.

Schedule I is blowing up the Steam charts

So, what is this game? I’ve not played it myself, but going from the description on Steam, Schedule I is a simulator where, instead of becoming a powerwasher, or farmer, you become a drug dealer.

Based on over 8,000 reviews, the game has an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating, and there’s a free demo available if you want to deal some drugs (in-game, for legal purposes) for yourself.

“You're a small-time drug dealer rolling into a fresh town with no cash, no product and no connections. Build your drug empire from the ground up in the grungy west-coast city of Hyland Point,” says the game’s synopsis.

As the new wannabe kingpin, you’ll mix chemicals, water your plants, cut up product and try to make as much money as possible.

But you won’t be stuck in a warehouse breaking up sheets of blue crystal, you can take a break from the sweaty drug house and deal to citizens throughout the city.

Hilariously, the game is designed with low-poly visuals, and they look brilliantly ludicrous as you’ll occasionally find yourself in shoot-outs with cops, and likely rival gangs.

With base management, some farming elements, and a mix of action, Schedule I appears to be a lot of fun, and I can see why it’s flying up the trending chart on Steam.

The game is available in early access, should you enjoy the demo, and it will continue to expand - much like your drug empire - in the months to come.
