If I said that was a game that blends the best of Skyrim and Stardew Valley, and that it’s free to play on Steam right now, that would be awesome, right?
Well, such a game exists and it's called Crowncity, created by the indie team at Haon Games. Sure, you have to exclude the Skyrim action but if you’re after a casual sim game with a fantasy world similar to Tamriel with gameplay inspired by Stardew Valley, then you’re in the right place.
Check out the Crowncity trailer below!
“Embark on a journey following a protagonist, a lord in the late medieval Holy Roman Empire. As a vassal under Duchess Konstanze of Dithmarschen, you’re tasked with developing an undeveloped fiefdom, adhering to feudal contracts,” reads the description of the game on Steam.

“Face challenges like interference from neighbouring territories, harsh natural environments including severe winter cold, and the relentless demands of your residents,” it continues. “Improve the city’s financial status by developing housing, selecting appropriate tax policy options, and processing and exporting abundant raw materials for profitable trade.”
Released today (at the time of writing) on the PC platform, this demo will give you the best indication as to whether Crowncity is your cup of tea but judging by its gameplay trailer, it looks equally charming as much as it looks fun.
What’s more, an early access version is planned which should open up even more of the game for players to enjoy. At the time of writing, Crowncity does not have a solid release date but the full version of the game is expected to launch in November later this year.
Hopefully, with a bit of luck, if Crowncity proves to be a success, it will eventually be released on handheld platforms such as the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch because this looks like it could be a fantastic game to play on the go.
