Steam quietly makes hit game free to download and keep forever

A nice little freebie for you

A highly-rated game on Steam is now free-to-play, not just a demo either; you can keep it forever.

Unfortunately it’s not one of the AAA bangers currently gracing the Steam pages like Warhammer 40k: Space Marine II.

As for the Steam game that is being given away, it’s Infected Shelter, one you may not have heard of but it’s well-worth checking out.

The game’s official description reads: “Infected Shelter is an ultra-violent rogue-lite post-apocalyptic beat'em up. Singleplayer and co-op for up to four players.”

As you just read you can play this with your friends if you so wish, but playing it solo is just as much fun if the Steam reviews are to be believed. The game currently has over 300 ratings, almost all of which are “Very Positive.”

One user gave it very high praise, saying: “Infected shelter is a great roguelite brawler. the latter means you'll be beating up all sorts of bad guys (or former bad guys, now zombies or mutants), robotic creatures and even some crazed wild animals, while the former means you'll be dying and restarting from the beginning a lot.”

“Satisfying Roguelike beat em up. Ill go as far as call this a underappreciated hidden gem. If you love Beat em ups, love roguelike this game is meant specially for you. Infested Shelter is a very very cheap game but does the body good on terms of gameplay enjoyment” added another.

You can play the full game for free right now with no strings attached, so if you’re a fan of the roguelike and/or RPG genre, and of course beat-em-up games, this is definitely one to add to your library.

If it’s not your cup of tea, add it anyway, it’s a free game after all and those don’t come around often.
