Fans of Resident Evil and other generally horrific and spooky games, should be looking to Steam for their next game, as there’s a little freebie to get your hands on.
It’s a demo for a game called Bleak Haven, and it’s certainly channelling inspirations from other touchstones in the horror game sphere.
Described as a “cinematic survival horror where faith is twisted, every shot matters, and survival hangs on what you can build,” it’s certain to please, or scare, fans of Resident Evil.
The planned release for the full game isn’t for some time, but this demo should give you a great taste of what’s to come.

Bleak Haven follows Tyler, who receives an updated location from his missing brother’s phone, leading him to go off and look for him.
That’s got major Silent Hill vibes all over it, if you ask me, and I don’t think things go well for Tyler.
It turns out he’s walking into a nightmare, as he attempts to explore “abandoned villages, crypts, ruins, and underground chambers,” you know, your usual survival horror locations.
With some fast-paced combat against all manner of occult horrors, this game is looking to combine the slow and creeping fear of a narrative driven tale, with the frenetic action of blockbuster cinematic scenes.

All built in Unreal Engine 5, the screenshots on the Steam page look lovely, if you can say that about many-limbed monsters and grotesque creatures.
Touching on some sensitive topics, this horror adventure is said to be a “grounded, emotionally heavy experience,” which should come as no surprise when missing siblings are involved.
The launch should be sometime this year, so if you enjoy this demo, consider popping it onto your wishlist to keep up-to-date on development.
This might be one to play from behind the sofa cushions.
