If you’re on the lookout for a survival game that simultaneously falls within the category of ‘cosy’, I have just the thing.
Developed by Cyberwave and set to be published by rokaplay, Solarpunk is just that.
It’s No Man’s Sky meets Valheim, with a touch of Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing: New Horizons thrown in there for good measure.

Solarpunk is set within a technically advanced world made up of floating islands.
The premise is simple.
“Together with your friends, you can construct buildings, grow food, craft gadgets and explore distant islands with your own airship,” reads the synopsis.
“Use sunlight, wind and water to create an energy system and automate your processes like gathering resources and watering your plants.”

ICYMI: Split Fiction launches on 6 March.
As teased in the description, you can play Solarpunk solo or you can enjoy some co-op time with friends.
This is a lighthearted take on ‘survival’.

You won’t be fighting off vicious foes, per se, instead creating energy systems that allow you to maintain your means of survival.
It’s these systems that’ll lead to the creation of a prosperous farmstead.
Solarpunk is due to launch in full later this year - no release date is available just yet.
In the meantime, however, you can enjoy the game’s free demo on Steam which offers one to two hours of gameplay.

Some of the mechanics have been adjusted for the demo, but this snippet should give you an idea of what Solarpunk has to offer.
If you enjoy what you play, it’s well worth adding the game to your wishlist.
It helps support the devs and you’ll be kept up to date with the latest information on the game’s full launch.
If you fancy some cosy farming with a touch of magic, I also recommend Rituals of Raven which is available to sample for free on Steam now.
