The devs behind one of the most lauded franchises that you’ve probably never played are back with a new game, and it’s already getting some stellar reviews on Steam.
Now, I’m going to be honest with you, while I have heard of the games in the Endless series, I have certainly never sat down and actually played one of them.
The Endless franchise started back in 2012 with the release of Endless Space, a sci-fi strategy game developed by Amplitude Studios.
Since then, there’s been a bunch of different entries in the series, Dungeon of the Endless, Endless Zone, Endless Space 2, and Endless Legend.

By all accounts, the series is consistently pretty good, and the reviews on Steam for their titles reflect this.
Well, if you’re keen to get into the franchise, then today’s free download is another example of a very well-reviewed Endless game: Endless Legend 2.
The full game is set to drop in September, but the devs behind the game just released a new demo for the game, and it already has an 81% positive rating on Steam.
Here’s what the very pleased Steam users are saying about the demo.

“I’ve just tried the tutorial and I’m already hooked. The art style, music, and atmosphere are stunning, and – not surprisingly – the UI feels clean and intuitive. I especially love the layered popup system, where you can hover over key elements to open more detailed popups, and keep drilling down,” writes Steam user Jemhadar.
The battles are another highlight: they unfold directly on the world map terrain, transitioning into a battle view that reflects the actual landscape you’re fighting on – it makes the combat feel much more connected to the world… I’m new to the Endless universe, having just discovered it through Endless Space 2, but it feels like it’s worth staying for the Legends as well.”
“This game is so amazing, great artwork, music, graphics and gameplay,” writes Steam user Dubu Wang.
“If you like Endless Space 2, Endless Legend 1, Civ games or other turn based strategy games, I could highly recommend this.”

Y’know, I am really tempted to give this one a go but… I’m slightly terrified that it is going to be really good, and then I’ll have to play through all the other games in the franchise.
Please forgive me, backlog, but I’m going in.
