Uh oh, Starfield really isn’t faring all that well, is it? If the devs had been hoping for a Christmas miracle, that hasn’t happened, with the sci-fi adventure now consisting of “mostly negative” reviews on Steam.
Bethesda would probably be relieved if it was only Steam will the long list of poor reviews, but it seems bad reviews are across all platforms, with Starfield falling further from grace with each passing hour. Yes, it really is that bad.
You can't deny how good the music from Starfield is – just listen to Inon Zur's performance!
Not only have gamers described the title as “lacking” in “staying power”, but the game has been referred to as “trash” by modders attempting to introduce multiplayer expansions into the game. All in all, Starfield’s legacy is one of disappointment and broken promises, much like some people’s Christmas’ as we reflect on the presents we didn’t get.

“The game itself is just boring and uninspired,” is always a great start to a review. “It's sterile and safe, built to appeal to the widest possible audience and not offend anybody. The characters sometimes have their shining moments, but for the most part are bland, and your companions are the worst of these offenders because they all have the same opinion on everything, they're all the same. The characters also don't look great, they have this dead-eyed uncanny valley effect to them made worse by the Skyrim-style zoom-in whenever they talk.”
If only this was the most brutal of the reviews, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. Of course, there are some positive comments mixed into all the negative ones, however, even they reference the numerous “problems” Starfield has.
At GAMINGbible, we gave the game high praise, seeing its potential and ambition. Still, while we still believe the game can be what it promised before its launch, it’s going to take a lot of effort from Bethesda to win the waning fandom over.
