The legacy Stardew Valley has created is hard for similar games to compete with, however, that doesn’t mean there isn’t life after Stardew Valley. For players looking for more idyllic experiences, look no further than an upcoming PC title.
Gaucho and the Grassland is a charming adventure, filled with rolling hillsides to ramble across and hay bales to nap on. There’s also a hint of mysticism about this curious new world we find ourselves in, further adding to the appeal of this farming game.
Soon to be available as a full game on Steam, there’s a demo of Gaucho and the Grassland waiting for PC players to explore its animal rearing, item crafting, and farmhouse customising ways.

Ready yourself for a new adventure across the grassy landscape of Gaucho and the Grassland
“Cusco, the dog, and Alazão, the horse, are your faithful friends, they are the ones who embark with you on this adventure and help you collect new items to build your farm. Alazão will help you explore places and herd some animals, while Cusco, with its keen sense of smell, will help you find hidden items that are not found anywhere else,” begins the game’s description.
With your companions by your side, you’ll learn the truth about local folklore as you explore a world you never realised was so tantalisingly close by. Although Stardew Valley is the obvious influence here, we’d argue that Fae Farm has also played its role in shaping this Epopeia Games release.

Despite only showing the Microsoft Windows logo on the demo download, specs for Mac systems are given further down, therefore suggesting that the game will eventually be available on Macs as well. However, it appears that the demo is only accessible to those on Windows.
Still, it’s good to know that Mac gamers are being kept in mind for the main release, which is a silver lining we weren't expecting today. For now, Gaucho and the Grassland is simply “coming soon”, with no firm launch date in sight just yet.
