Skyrim, though filled with weird and wonderful experiences, isn’t that scary.

There’s the odd eerie moment, but for the most part, the game lacks the horrors of franchises such as Resident Evil.

Nobody would deem this a design flaw. That being said, some have wondered what The Elder Scrolls experience would be like with a dose of horror added into the mix.

Alkahest is a game that will offer you such an adventure.

Developed by Push On, this Steam title is an “action-adventure RPG” that takes place in a “murky medieval world”.

Check out the Alkahest trailer below

Here’s a sneak peek of the story you’ll be thrown into:

“As the youngest son of a petty lord, you’re no hero. And to become someone, you’ll have to prove your worth through sweat and blood. Investigating unusual goblin raids on the county border may be the chance you've been waiting for.”

Over the course of the game, you’ll “explore castles, forests, villages and other realistic settings, while meeting its residents and making interesting decisions on your journey.”

It’s not just giving us Elder Scrolls vibes, it’s also reminding us of Elden Ring in its gritty, gothic aesthetic.

Despite no launch date being set, there’s still a chance of playing Alkahest ahead of its release.

On its Steam page, there’s an option to request access to the playtest for Push On’s game.

Sadly, that’s all you can interact with at the moment.

Hopefully, a demo for Alkahest will eventually be shared, however, there’s no guarantee of that.

And while its launch date is to be announced, it’s more than likely this title will be released well before The Elder Scrolls VI.

Unless something really untoward happens, then all bets are off.

When you crave a fantastical horror experience, one day, Alkahest will be ready to deliver such an adventure.

We can’t wait for that day to come.
