This upcoming Steam game is like Rust if it went mediaeval, and it looks absolutely fantastic.
We’re certainly not short of open world games, though a few more wouldn’t hurt anyone right? If you primarily play on Steam, this upcoming open world title certainly deserves a spot on your wishlist, as it’s seemingly a combination of The Elder Scrolls and Rust.

The name of the game is Renown, a survival game that gives off Valheim vibes with its open ended fields, forests, and small-scale settlements.

It’s not available at the time of writing as it’s still in the early stages of development, but the screenshots and gameplay videos look wonderful so far, and the best part is it’ll be multiplayer.
The game’s description reads: “Renown is a fast paced multiplayer survival experience set in a vast and ever changing mediaeval world. Players begin with nothing, gather resources, build a kingdom and fight to survive in the hopes of becoming renowned across the land.”
As it says on the tin, the player will start their journey gathering resources like weapons and armour, maybe building a stronghold to store your goods and stay the night in before heading to the battlefield and taking on whoever stands in your way. This is obviously where the Rust inspiration comes into play, only this time you’ll be swapping your pistols and assault rifles for the cold, steel blades.
Since you’ll be able to play the game with your friends, the obvious thing to do would be construct a mighty castle fit for a king, before slaying anyone who dares trespass in your territory. It’ll be easier said than done though, as the game’s combat is described as easy to learn but difficult to master.

So far Renown doesn’t have an official release date, or even a release window for that matter, though if you’re desperate to give it a go you can request access to the game’s alpha builds via early-access.
