I think we can all agree there are officially too many survival games out there. But even so, it can be hard not to get excited when something new shuffled into the crowded genre that looks like it could have a real bite.
I'm a simple man. I like Fallout. I like the severely underrated Far Cry Primal (seriously, go check it out on PlayStation Plus, it's aged amazingly). You smack those two things together, and you have a game I'm very intrigued by.
Check out Winter Survival below!
Okay, so Winter Survival might just be the most incredibly basic name we've ever seen on a video game, but it does what it says on the tin. This is a brutal survivalist challenge set in a frozen wasteland where your only goal is to not meet a horrifying icy end.

As per the game's Steam description: "Dive into the ultimate winter survival experience and see if you can survive long enough for rescue to arrive. Experience our unique sanity system that takes survival to the next level."
"What was supposed to be a nice winter hike in the Mount Washington State Park with friends, turned into a dire situation. You are left alone to fight for your survival. With only marginal supplies you have to fight off of the cold, thirst, hunger, wildlife and your own state of mind while finding your way to an abandoned ranger station in hope to be able to call for help."
Developer DRAGO Entertainment promises a large world to explore filled with deadly terrain, harsh conditions, and lots of things that want you dead. You'll need to keep your wits about you, and use what you can find to put together shelter, weapons, and more as you attempt to stave off a nasty case of the deadsies.
Winter Survival is set to release in Early Access on Steam on 28 February, so just a few weeks from now. If you're looking to scratch that survival itch with something a little bit different, this could be the game.
