Starfield story spoilers and late-game footage have started appearing online

Some people just want to watch the world burn

We feared this day would come, we just hoped it wouldn’t be so soon… Starfield spoilers are popping up online.

It pains me to say it, but the surprise of experiencing a game for yourself has been murdered once more as both story details and late-game footage are free-roaming the internet.

See a teaser for Starfield's story WITHOUT any spoilers!

It was only a few days ago that we cheered as Bethesda announced the game had gone gold, with that elation soaring ever higher when we learnt how long we had until review embargoes are lifted. Those positive vibes feel like a distant memory now and, apparently, it’s all thanks to one “PlayStation fanboy” who’s determined to ruin other people’s enjoyment just because the console he prefers can’t play it. Clearly they didn't research hard enough, because PS players can play Starfield, provided they're willing to jump through more loops than normal.

A lot of our lives are spent online, so we’ve become used to spoilers, as gross as they are, but this feels worse somehow. Maybe it’s because so many of us, myself included, have pinned a lot of hope on Starfield being the best Bethesda game to date. Even as someone who writes about games for a living, getting spoilers shoved in your face has us covering our faces quicker than Smithers.

When we saw that YouTuber DreamcastGuy tweeted “WTF well the main story of Starfield has leaked. Legit just saw the ending of the game on the timeline”, we shuddered because we realised nowhere is safe. But while it saddens us to see people crashing the party so disrespectfully, we refuse to add further fuel to the flames by sharing what those spoilers are; we want our experience to be pure, first-hard, and unaffected by fanboys with too much spare time.

This should be a time for joy, so while we can’t always avoid spoilers, let’s give it up for the news that Starfield is coming to Xbox One. Hurray! We’ll admit that we’re surprised, because of its hefty game file size, but we’ll take any wins we can to cleanse our timelines of bad juju.

Take a deep breath in… out… in… and relax. Before the review embargo finishes, make sure to stay safe online and block anyone who gives you the ick. Before long, it’ll be 6 September and we’ll all be enjoying the game as the Bethesda Gods intended.
