Shirley Curry, 88, known for her love of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has announced her retirement from gaming.

If you’re a Skyrim fan or a fan of Bethesda RPGs in general you’ll have probably seen Shirley in action, as she’s made headlines for her love of the fifth Elder Scrolls game and regularly shared her gameplay online..

Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like she has plans to play The Elder Scrolls VI, the teaser of which you can see below

Shirley seemingly had no interest in other Bethesda IPs like Fallout or Starfield, only Skyrim grabbed her attention and rightly so as it’s arguably still the developers’ best game to date.

All good things must come to an end though, as the Skyrim superfan has now announced in a recent video she’ll be retiring from content creation.

In the video Shirley shared that she’ll soon be undergoing eye surgery and wants to do more with her time than just gaming.

She also shared that she’s grown tired of chasing new videos to upload online, and doesn’t fancy continuing it anymore.

All of this was in good faith though, and fans of the Skyrim player completely understood and wished her well.

“Well deserved. She is 88 years old” said one viewer, with another adding that if she began her Skyrim adventures on launch day, “she would have been playing it for 15%, or about just under a sixth of her life,” which is a lot of Skyrim.

“Sad to see her go, but if she’s no longer enjoying what she does then this is the best decision for her. she is a Skyrim legend and Bethesda best immortalize her in following games” added another.

Many are still hoping Bethesda will include some sort of reference or NPC modelled after Shirley in The Elder Scrolls VI, even more so now following her retirement.
