Are the glory days of Skyrim behind us? They very well could be.

Despite being nearly 13 years old, Skyrim is still a firm favourite with gamers.

People like to criticise Bethesda, but it made something special when it developed this Elder Scrolls adventure.

The game is getting on in years though, leaving fans wondering if another official update is coming.

Curiosity has led to fans asking whether this is it for the iconic RPG.

We'll always have these funny Skyrim wins and fails

Redditor therealicekid posted on the Skyrim subreddit, “I can't help but wonder if Skyrim will ever see another significant update or game changing patch.”

In that same post, the OP talks of the bugs that still exist within the game, thus proving that updates would be beneficial.

But as countless other fans have quickly reminded the OP, Bethesda is now focused on other projects, specifically Starfield, and The Elder Scrolls VI. Oh, and Fallout 5.

“They're too busy working on Starfield and TES6 to spend any significant amount of time on Skyrim. They might push some Creation Club updates at some point, but I wouldn't expect anything more than that,” reasoned TehNolz.

Other fans believe that the game is already “perfect”.

“It's a perfect game right now. I have 119 games in my Steam library. Only 4 of them I rate 10/10, and Skyrim is one of those 4. There is nothing wrong with the game that hasn't already been fixed by modders,” argued WhamBam-ClamSlam.

In contrast to the above remarks, Qwerky42O believes it should receive additional updates.

They said, “It honestly should. The fact that so many bugs and glitches remain and are easily fixable (just see the Unofficial Skyrim Patch) is gross. It’s not like this game was released in 2011 and then that’s it.”

As you can see, the fandom is struggling to agree on what’s best for the beloved title.

Further updates might never happen, however, that won’t stop us starting another playthrough.

With new fan expansions available, even if Bethesda never bothers to touch the game again, modders will.

There’s always something to explore.
