To take a quote from Shrek and make it fit my own purposes, Red Dead Redemption 2 is like an onion; it has layers.

Rockstar Games is well known for packing in subtle details that keep fans exploring long after the base game is complete.

Still, the fact that we’re almost six years down the line and still finding major secrets is impressive.

It’s not only hidden cabins dotted across the Wild West landscape that may disturb you – it’s what you’ll find beneath the snow, too.

After playing over 300 hours worth of Red Dead Redemption 2, one player has discovered an intriguing secret previously buried in the snow.

“300+ hours and it’s my first time seeing this,” revealed Rude-Ad-7224 on Reddit.

Alongside the caption were several images of a deceased NPC clutching a gun. What’s most interesting about this discovery is how much the NPC looks like John Marston.

We were shocked by this find, yet according to the veteran players of the game, you should always check out these spots when they appear on your map.

“Pro tip, if you see a random corpse icon pop up on the map, ALWAYS explore it,” explained fellow fan TheOverlook237.

Of course, this sometimes means you can fall prey to the Night Folk; however, even then, players believe it’s worth taking the risk.

Whether you agree with that or not, you can't deny how amazing it is that so much depth can still be found after all this time, both above and below the snow.

“I feel that. Working through the game again. Kind of amazing all the stuff hidden in the snow and all over the map,” remarked Requiesce_en_pace.

If you’re not usually one for exploration, now is the time to change your tactics and go on a treasure hunt. Sure, you may find decomposed corpses in the snow, but you may find valuables as well.

Of course, if you feel you’ve been there, done that, there are other ways to make RDR2 feel like a whole new game again.

Whatever your reasons for riding with Arthur again, make sure to dig a little deeper when passing through snowy areas because there may just be a surprise waiting.
