It is safe to say that The Last of Us franchise is experiencing a bit of a hiatus at the moment.
We have received all of the remasters possible, the TV series isn't set to return until next year, and Naughty Dog is working on a new game which is looking to be like a brand-new IP.

However, you would be incorrect in thinking that this means fans are no longer being treated, as this week will celebrate the launch of a very exciting The Last of Us project.
Starting off as a Kickstarter project that racked up an incredible one million dollars, raised across 9.7k backers, The Last of Us: Escape the Dark is a board game set in Naughty Dog’s beloved universe.

Created by Themeborne, The Last of Us: Escape the Dark supports solo and co-op play, allowing up to five players to team together and explore the iconic setting in a brand-new way.
As you explore the open-world map, you will create your own story as a group of survivors trying to live in a post-apocalyptic world.
With hand-crafted pieces, art, cards and more, players of Escape the Dark will begin their journey in a forsaken quarantine zone and hopefully end it in the safe haven of Jackson.
However, the goal is to keep everybody alive but in a world overrun by Infected and equally monstrous humans, it is going to take a lot of willpower, teamwork, and strength to make it through.

“Carefully plot your route through the troubled landscape, resolving immersive Chapter cards at each location to gain vital intel, weapons, and equipment,” the official description reads.
"Survival will depend on making difficult choices, and on tactical use of Item cards and custom dice to overcome a variety of threats including Hunters, FEDRA agents, and the dreaded Infected.”
The Last of Us: Escape the Dark releases on 5 December but is available to pre-order now.
